Eureka, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory is set to bring hazardous travel conditions to Northern Humboldt County starting Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, snow is expected to begin at 5 p.m. Monday and continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday. Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are likely above 2,500 feet, with higher amounts possible on peaks. Berry Summit along Highway 299 is expected to see significant impacts.

Roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and dangerous during the advisory window. The NWS cautions drivers to slow down and remain alert as travel could become very difficult in elevated areas.

Highway 299 is a critical route for inland travel, and snowfall at Berry Summit may cause delays or temporary closures. Residents and commuters are advised to check Caltrans or call 511 for updated road conditions before heading out.

This weather pattern is typical for spring storms in the region, though late-season snow can still catch travelers off guard. Emergency officials recommend keeping winter supplies in vehicles and delaying unnecessary trips until conditions improve.
