Eureka, CA – Small hail and heavy rainfall are expected to impact coastal areas of Northern California through Saturday, leading to hazardous road conditions and potential flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, small hail will accompany showers through Thursday morning, creating slick roads and increasing travel risks. The heaviest rain is forecast to arrive late Thursday night into Friday, with up to 2 inches expected across the region. The heaviest downpours will likely occur Friday morning along a frontal boundary.

NWS warns that slick roadways, minor flooding in low-lying areas, and a heightened risk of rockslides and landslides are possible. Motorists are advised to avoid travel if possible and to drive cautiously on hail-covered roads by easing off the gas, avoiding sudden braking, and steering gently.

Communities such as Eureka, Crescent City, Fort Bragg, and Ukiah should prepare for continued wet conditions, with rainfall totals reaching 1.5 inches or more in some areas. Authorities recommend checking for weather updates and exercising caution, particularly in areas prone to flooding or icy conditions.
