Sacramento, California – Residents across interior Northern California will feel a rapid spring warmup beginning this weekend as valley temperatures climb from the upper 70s into the upper 80s and low 90s by early next week, pushing well above seasonal averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, a strengthening ridge of high pressure will drive a steady warming trend across the Sacramento Valley through the next several days. High temperatures are expected to reach 77–82°F Thursday and Friday, increase to 80–85°F Saturday, and climb to 83–90°F Sunday before peaking between 85–92°F from Monday through Wednesday.

Cities including Sacramento, Redding, Chico, Woodland, and Yuba City could experience some of the warmest conditions. The warming trend may be most noticeable during afternoon hours, particularly in urban areas where pavement and buildings trap heat.

Transportation agencies warn that the early-season warmth could impact outdoor workers and increase dehydration risks during peak afternoon temperatures. Residents are encouraged to drink water frequently, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours, and check on pets and vulnerable neighbors.

The warmer pattern is expected to persist through at least midweek, with forecasters monitoring whether the ridge remains strong enough to keep Northern California temperatures running well above normal. Additional heat-related advisories could be issued if temperatures trend higher.
