Hanford, California – Spring sunshine is turning up the heat across California’s Central Valley, and Hanford is squarely in the hot zone. Temperatures will climb daily, pushing into the upper 90s by the weekend — with a sweltering 99°F expected Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, Wednesday’s high will reach 89°F, climbing to 92°F Thursday and 96°F Friday, with little overnight cooling. By Saturday, north-northwest winds will sweep through Kings County with gusts up to 15 mph, adding dry, breezy conditions to an already intense spring heatwave.

Travelers on CA-198 and surrounding roadways should watch for vehicle overheating and heat-related issues, especially during peak afternoon hours. Residents are advised to limit outdoor work between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and check on older neighbors or pets. The region has not seen a May temperature spike like this since 2021, and prolonged sun exposure may elevate the risk for heat-related illness.

Thursday and Friday nights offer little relief, with lows barely dipping below 65°F. Winds could gust to 20 mph Sunday night, increasing fire weather concerns into early next week.
