San Francisco, CA – A widespread frost advisory has been issued across parts of Northern and Central California for early Thursday morning, with temperatures expected to dip near or below freezing.

According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, the advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. PDT Thursday, impacting the North Bay Interior Valleys, Interior Monterey County, San Benito County, and surrounding mountainous regions, including the Santa Lucia Mountains and Southern Salinas Valley.

Forecasters warn that temperatures could fall as low as 32 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting concern for sensitive populations such as unhoused individuals. The cold air may also result in hypothermia if individuals are exposed for extended periods.

Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautionary measures to protect tender vegetation and outdoor pets. Local agricultural communities, especially in the Salinas Valley and Arroyo Seco regions, may want to implement frost protection practices.

This weather pattern follows a cooler air mass moving in behind a weak frontal system earlier this week, which has cleared skies and allowed temperatures to fall overnight in inland valleys and elevated terrain.

The advisory is set to expire mid-morning Thursday as daytime temperatures rebound. No additional frost alerts are currently in effect for Friday, though residents should stay informed with updated forecasts as conditions evolve.

The National Weather Service urges all residents in frost-affected regions to monitor local updates and plan accordingly to reduce exposure and potential weather-related damage.
