Fresno, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Central and Southern California, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from late Tuesday through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

The advisory covers the Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, and the South End of the Lower Sierra, where 6 to 12 inches of snow is forecast between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph, making travel hazardous, especially for morning and evening commutes on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the Frazier Mountain Communities, including Tehachapi, the Grapevine, and Piute Walker Basin, snowfall is expected to range from 2 to 6 inches above 4,000 feet, with up to 15 inches possible in higher elevations. Winds may gust as high as 55 mph, potentially bringing down tree branches and reducing visibility on mountain roads. The advisory for this area extends from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous conditions and check road updates by calling 511. Authorities urge travelers to slow down and exercise caution, particularly in areas with steep terrain where ice accumulation is likely. Power outages may also occur due to wind and snow accumulation.
