San Diego, CA — A strong burst of spring weather is stirring up San Diego’s coastline with dangerous waves and gusty winds through midday Wednesday.

A High Surf Advisory remains in effect along the California coast until 12 p.m. Wednesday, with waves posing risks to swimmers and surfers. According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts coastal communities along I-5 and nearby beach areas. Winds reaching 25 to 30 mph and rip currents may threaten beachgoers and drivers along Pacific Highway and North Harbor Drive.

Wednesday begins with mostly cloudy skies, followed by a 30% chance of showers in the evening. Temperatures will rise to near 60°F, dipping to around 50°F overnight. Winds will remain steady at 15 mph, with gusts near 30 mph. Travelers should use caution on coastal roadways, especially near Mission Beach and La Jolla Shores.

Thursday’s outlook brings partly sunny skies and a 40% chance of scattered showers, with highs reaching 58°F. Winds will shift southwest at 10 mph, potentially calming the surf by evening.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday offer sunny skies with highs between 64°F and 67°F, delivering a calm and warm spring weekend. Nighttime lows stay in the upper 40s. By Sunday, temperatures climb to 73°F, with continued dry weather and light coastal breezes.

Residents are urged to avoid jetties and rocks along the coast and heed lifeguard warnings. Stay weather-aware with regular updates from weather.gov.
