San Diego, California – Drivers along California’s I-5 through San Diego County should brace for limited visibility late Thursday night into Friday morning as patchy fog creeps back into the region. With spring temperatures climbing into the high 70s by Friday afternoon, this brief bout of morning haze could pose safety risks for early commuters.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog is expected to roll in after 11 p.m. Thursday, with reduced visibility lingering until around 11 a.m. Friday. Winds may remain calm, but drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra time on major roadways including I-5, I-15, and CA-163.

By midday Friday, conditions shift sharply. Skies clear and sunshine dominates, bringing highs near 77°F—well above average for early May. Weekend warmth continues with highs in the mid-70s on both Saturday and Sunday, paired with overnight lows around 59°F.

Looking ahead, patchy fog may return late Saturday and Sunday night, but daytime hours should remain mostly sunny and dry. Monday continues the mild spring trend with highs in the low 70s and clearer skies.
