Eureka, California – Drivers in Eureka should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility as rain returns to the North Coast Thursday night, continuing into Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, a 30 percent chance of rain begins after 11 p.m. Thursday, increasing to 60 percent Friday, with the heaviest precipitation expected after 11 a.m. Winds from the northwest may reach up to 10 mph, especially along exposed coastal roads. Showers are expected to taper to a 40 percent chance by Saturday morning.

Local impacts could include wet roads on U.S. Route 101 and reduced visibility for morning commuters between Eureka and Arcata. Light rainfall totals of less than a tenth of an inch are expected, but even light showers can lead to hydroplaning hazards on untreated surfaces.

Residents should check windshield wipers, drive cautiously in low-visibility zones, and allow extra time for travel through Friday evening. Outdoor weekend plans may also be affected by persistent showers and cloud cover through early Saturday.

Rain chances diminish by Saturday night, with mostly cloudy skies expected before sunshine returns on Sunday. Updates will follow if storm intensity or duration changes.
