Death Valley, CA – A powerful storm that swept through California Monday night caused a park-wide power outage across Death Valley National Park, leaving visitors and resorts grappling with limited services and communications.

According to a Facebook post from Death Valley National Park officials, the June 3 storm knocked down multiple power poles, disabling electricity throughout the area. Crews are working to restore service, with an estimated restoration time of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4.

Resorts within the park have some backup power, the post stated, but services such as cell reception, internet, and other communications may be severely limited until full power is restored. Visitors are advised to prepare for extreme heat, ensure their gas tanks are full before entering the park, and bring adequate water and snacks.

Park officials also reminded travelers that Death Valley’s summer temperatures can be life-threatening without proper preparation. Authorities are urging caution, especially given the possibility of reduced access to emergency services during the outage.

Travelers planning a visit this week are encouraged to check official park channels for updates and travel advisories.
