Sacramento, Calif. – Temperatures across Northern California’s interior are expected to soar to near 90 degrees this afternoon, with cities like Red Bluff and Orland hitting peak heat by 3 p.m. Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, parts of the northern Sacramento Valley—including Red Bluff, Willows, and nearby communities—will see highs between 88°F and 90°F. The agency urges residents to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours and seek shade or air conditioning when possible.
Marysville and Chico will come close behind at 88°F, while Sacramento, Modesto, and Stockton are forecast to top out in the mid-to-upper 80s. Cooler coastal zones like Eureka and Fort Bragg will stay in the upper 50s, creating a sharp contrast between inland and coastal conditions.
The unusually warm temperatures follow a stretch of mild spring weather and could stress vulnerable groups unaccustomed to early-season heat. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, check on elderly neighbors, and avoid strenuous outdoor tasks during the afternoon.
While this is not a formal heat advisory, the NWS notes temperatures will remain elevated into early evening. Another warm day is possible Friday, with updated guidance expected by morning.
