Los Angeles, CA – Parts of Southern California will sizzle under a spring heatwave through 9 p.m. Thursday, with temperatures nearing triple digits and raising the risk of heat-related illness and wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office, heat advisories are in effect for interior sections of Ventura, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara counties, as well as inland San Luis Obispo County. The hottest conditions are expected Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 97°F in Paso Robles, 94°F in Santa Clarita and Pomona, and 93°F in Cuyama.

The advisory urges residents to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, especially in places like Northridge, Ojai, Fillmore, and Big Pine Mountain. Drivers are reminded to check back seats for children and pets, while residents should check on elderly neighbors and seek cool indoor spaces or coastal breezes.

Dry conditions combined with high temperatures and low humidity are increasing the potential for wildfires, particularly near canyon areas and brush-covered foothills. Authorities warn that any spark could spread quickly.

The heat advisory remains in effect through Thursday evening. More alerts could be issued if temperatures remain elevated into the weekend.
