San Jose, Calif. – Triple-digit heat is expected to bake the Bay Area’s interior valleys Friday, prompting a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to 105°F in multiple counties.
According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, the advisory affects the Santa Clara Valley, East Bay hills and valleys, the North Bay’s interior mountains and valleys, and much of the Central Coast’s inland areas including Hollister Valley and the Salinas Valley. Friday afternoon will be the hottest period, with heat-sensitive individuals and outdoor workers at elevated risk.
Cities like San Jose, Concord, Livermore, and Santa Rosa are likely to see peak temperatures near or above 100°F. Rural areas in San Benito and Monterey counties could see conditions just as extreme, especially in low-lying valleys. Agencies warn that health systems and heat-sensitive industries could be strained.
Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and use air conditioning or cooling centers where possible. Check on older adults and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles—even briefly.
The heat advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday, and additional alerts may follow if the heatwave lingers into the weekend.
