Eureka, CA – A Freeze Watch is in effect for Humboldt and Mendocino Coasts beginning late Tuesday night and extending through Wednesday morning. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 32°F are expected, posing risks to crops, sensitive vegetation, and outdoor structures.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Eureka office, frost will develop after midnight as cold, dry offshore winds push temperatures near or below freezing. Residents along the US 101 corridor are urged to take precautions to protect outdoor plants and ensure pets are sheltered. The warning covers areas from Trinidad to Fort Bragg.

Tuesday night will bring clear skies and a low of 36°F, while Wednesday morning frost is likely before 10 a.m. By Wednesday afternoon, temperatures are expected to rise to 52°F under sunny skies, providing temporary relief. However, frost could return Wednesday night as lows dip to 36°F.

The forecast for Thanksgiving Day shows sunny skies with a high of 53°F and calm conditions, ideal for outdoor holiday activities. Clear and frosty conditions will persist overnight, with temperatures dropping to 36°F. Friday and Saturday will follow a similar pattern, with daytime highs in the mid-50s and nighttime lows in the upper 30s.

Drivers should exercise caution on frosty roads, especially during early morning hours along US 101. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and take measures to protect vulnerable items from freezing conditions.
