Los Angeles, CA – A Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warning is in effect for Los Angeles and Ventura counties from noon Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns of powerful Santa Ana winds combined with critically low humidity levels, creating conditions for extreme fire risk.
According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts could reach 60 to 80 mph in many areas, with isolated peaks of 100 mph in mountain locations such as the San Gabriels and Santa Susanas. Coastal and valley regions may see gusts between 50 and 70 mph, particularly along the Highway 118, 126, and 210 corridors. Relative humidity is expected to drop as low as 5%, exacerbating wildfire risk.
A Fire Weather Watch is also in place from Tuesday evening through Thursday, as another round of offshore winds is expected. Officials urge residents near wildland areas to prepare for possible evacuations and avoid activities that could ignite a fire.
