Red Rock Canyon State Park, CA – A light earthquake startled residents near Red Rock Canyon State Park early Monday as a 3.2-magnitude tremor struck just west-southwest of Johannesburg around 11:46 p.m. local time.

According to the California Integrated Seismic Network, the quake registered at a shallow depth of 5.2 kilometers, with its epicenter 15 kilometers from Johannesburg and felt across northern Kern County. While no immediate damage or injuries have been reported, minor shaking may have been felt in nearby communities such as Ridgecrest, Cantil, and Red Mountain.

Drivers along State Route 14 near Red Rock Canyon State Park are urged to remain alert for possible rockslides or loose debris, especially in steep or unstable areas. No road closures have been issued, but park officials advise visitors to check for updates before hiking or camping in the region.
