Hanford, CA – Dense fog poses a significant travel risk across the San Joaquin Valley today and into the weekend, with visibility reduced to less than 800 feet in many areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Dense Fog Advisory effective through Saturday morning, highlighting dangers for drivers on key routes like Interstate 5 and Highway 99.
According to the NWS Hanford office, widespread dense fog is expected during the morning hours, especially before 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Reduced visibility could cause major disruptions for drivers, with some areas experiencing near-zero visibility overnight. Travelers are urged to delay trips if possible or use extreme caution when driving. Slow speeds, low beams, and maintaining extra distance between vehicles are recommended.
Friday’s high will reach 57 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Fog will return Friday night, lingering into Saturday morning, when lows dip to 41 degrees. Saturday will bring partial sunshine by midday with highs near 59 degrees, though patchy fog will again form Saturday night into Sunday.
Looking ahead, Sunday will be partly sunny with highs near 63 degrees, offering relief for outdoor plans. The calm weather trend continues into next week with sunny skies and temperatures climbing to the mid-60s.
Stay updated by checking local forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during fog-prone hours. Drivers along I-5 and Highway 99 should prepare for delays and hazardous conditions.
