Sacramento, CA – Drivers in the Sacramento Valley are facing hazardous conditions this morning due to dense fog that has significantly reduced visibility. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Dense Fog Advisory effective until 10 a.m. Thursday. Motorists along the Interstate 5 corridor and surrounding areas are urged to use caution, reduce speeds, and use low-beam headlights.
According to the NWS, visibility could drop below 1/4 mile in several areas, including Sacramento, Chico, Stockton, and Modesto. Drivers are encouraged to plan extra travel time as the fog may cause delays. These conditions, combined with overnight lows in the mid-40s, are expected to persist through early Friday morning.
Looking ahead, Black Friday shoppers and holiday travelers should anticipate gradual clearing during the day, with high temperatures reaching the mid-50s. However, cold overnight temperatures will continue, with frost possible in rural and foothill areas. Saturday and Sunday will bring slightly warmer daytime highs in the low 60s across the valley, with clear skies dominating the forecast.
Residents should prepare for frosty mornings by protecting sensitive plants, pets, and exposed pipes. The fog and cold may also impact outdoor activities, so layering up is recommended.
Travelers should monitor road conditions and weather updates closely through the weekend, particularly in the early hours when visibility is at its worst. For more detailed forecasts and updates, visit the National Weather Service website.
