San Francisco, CA – A powerful Pacific storm continues to hammer the San Francisco Bay Area and Central California coast with strong winds and high seas, prompting Gale Warnings across all coastal and bay waters through 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in San Francisco.

Forecasters expect south to southeast winds of 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 45–55 knots, producing seas between 7 and 12 feet from Pigeon Point south to Point Piedras Blancas. Gale conditions are also affecting San Francisco Bay, Suisun Bay, and Monterey Bay, where rough waters and low visibility pose serious risks for mariners.

The strongest winds are expected overnight into Wednesday morning, especially near coastal headlands and within the Golden Gate and Monterey Bay. The NWS warns that these conditions could capsize small vessels, damage moorings, and create extremely hazardous seas.

Mariners are strongly advised to stay in port, secure gear, and avoid open waters until conditions improve late Wednesday afternoon.

Winds are forecast to ease by evening, but lingering rough seas may persist through Thursday.
