Burlington, VT – Travelers in southern St. Lawrence and Franklin counties should prepare for difficult conditions as lake-effect snow continues through the weekend. Heavy snow will create hazardous travel, especially along routes near Jefferson County.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a Lake Effect Snow Warning is in place for St. Lawrence County, with a Winter Weather Advisory for Franklin County. Snow is expected to intensify throughout Friday and persist into Monday morning, with accumulations of up to 15 inches in some areas. Areas closer to Lake Ontario could see even heavier snowfall.
Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution, especially on Interstate 81 near Watertown, where road conditions may become treacherous. Winds gusting to 25 mph could reduce visibility to near zero at times.

By Sunday, snow showers will taper off, but bitter cold temperatures will dominate, with lows dipping into the 20s.
