Buffalo, NY – Breezy conditions across Western New York will give way to rain Monday before colder temperatures bring snow showers midweek. A wind advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. today, with gusts up to 44 mph possible, primarily impacting travel along major roadways, including the I-90 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, light rain will spread across the region Monday, with highs near 46°F. Rain will persist into Monday night and Tuesday, with showers likely to continue through early Wednesday. By late Wednesday, temperatures will dip into the 20s, introducing the potential for accumulating lake-effect snow, particularly east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Residents should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility as rain transitions to snow later in the week. The heaviest snow is expected Wednesday night, with gusty winds creating hazardous conditions for evening commuters.

Looking ahead, colder air will dominate the end of the week, with Thursday’s high near 26°F and overnight lows in the teens. Friday will remain cold but dry, with a high near 29°F, before snow chances return Saturday.

Drivers are urged to monitor local forecasts and allow extra time for travel during snow events. Stay updated through official weather channels and consider winterizing vehicles as lake-effect snow begins to impact the region.
