Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Chautauqua, Wayne, northern Cayuga, and Oswego counties through Thursday morning. Residents should prepare for lake-effect snow, with localized accumulations reaching up to 12 inches in some areas, especially near Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service, snow bands will intensify throughout Wednesday and Thursday as cold northwest winds persist. Travel along key roadways, including Interstate 90 and Route 104, could become hazardous with reduced visibility and slick conditions. Drivers are urged to carry emergency kits and check weather updates before heading out.

Temperatures will remain below freezing, with highs reaching only 24°F on Thursday. Overnight lows will drop to 14°F, keeping roads icy. By Friday, conditions will improve slightly, with partly sunny skies and highs near 29°F.

The extended forecast indicates another round of snow beginning Friday night, with a 90% chance of accumulation. Snow showers will likely continue into Saturday, with a high near 31°F. By Sunday, clear skies are expected, though temperatures will stay cold with highs in the low 30s.

Stay updated with local weather alerts and plan accordingly for potential delays or cancellations. Residents near the lake should secure outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during intense snow bands.
