Buffalo, NY – Showers and mild air will blanket western and northcentral New York tonight, with overnight lows running up to 15 degrees above normal for late April. Rainfall totals could top a half inch south of I-90 and east of I-81, with thunder possible in several areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, more showers will move back into the region between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is expected in places like Wellsville, Olean, Jamestown, Pulaski, and Highmarket, where totals could reach 0.5 inches or more. Most other cities—including Buffalo, Rochester, and Watertown—can expect lighter amounts, generally between 0.1 and 0.25 inches.
Roads may become slick during periods of heavier rain, and a few rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out late tonight. Temperatures will stay unseasonably mild, with lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s across much of the region. Residents are encouraged to check local alerts, keep devices charged in case of storms, and drive carefully if traveling overnight.
Mild, wet weather continues into Saturday, with more showers possible. The National Weather Service may issue additional updates if thunderstorm chances increase overnight.
