Denver, Colorado – Scattered thunderstorms could disrupt afternoon plans across Colorado’s Front Range today, with stronger cells potentially bringing small hail and gusty winds by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a line of storms is expected to develop by mid-afternoon, mainly east of the I-25 corridor. Showers will be hit-or-miss but could intensify quickly, particularly from Boulder to Fort Morgan and across the eastern plains. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to mid-70s, warmer than Tuesday’s highs.
Communities including Denver, Greeley, and Castle Rock could see brief downpours, reduced visibility, and lightning between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Some areas east of I-76 carry a “chance for stronger” storm development, with short bursts of small hail and localized wind gusts near 40 mph.
Drivers should monitor road conditions, especially in areas where wet pavement may quickly become slick. If thunder roars, head indoors—lightning remains a serious threat in pop-up storms.
Scattered storm chances will diminish by late evening, but a few lingering showers may persist overnight. More rain and storm activity is possible later this week.
