Boston, MA – A wintry mix of snow, freezing drizzle, and rain will create hazardous travel conditions across Boston this weekend. Residents should prepare for icy roads, slick sidewalks, and fluctuating temperatures as February begins with a messy weather pattern.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday morning will start with patchy snow and freezing rain before shifting to cloudy skies by the afternoon. Temperatures will struggle to reach 30°F, and gusty northwest winds up to 29 mph will make it feel even colder. Some areas may see minor ice accumulation, creating hazardous driving conditions.
Saturday night will bring clearing skies and frigid temperatures, with lows dropping to 11°F. Winds will calm slightly, but wind chills could make it feel even colder.
By Sunday, another system will bring increasing clouds and a new round of precipitation. Snow will develop in the morning before transitioning to freezing drizzle and eventually rain by the afternoon as temperatures rise to 34°F. Slick conditions are likely early in the day, so drivers should allow extra travel time and check for updated road conditions.
Monday will bring a brief warm-up, with a high of 47°F and a chance of early morning rain before skies turn partly sunny. However, temperatures will dip again Tuesday, with a high of only 38°F under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday will bring another chance of rain and snow, with highs in the mid-30s.
With a mix of snow, ice, and rain expected all weekend, travelers should use caution and stay updated on forecasts. Sidewalks and untreated roads may become slick, especially overnight. If heading out, bundle up and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
