Boston, Massachusetts – Massachusetts is heating up fast this Tuesday, with inland highs pushing 90°F and smoky skies casting a summer haze over much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, temperatures will range between 85 and 91 degrees in central and western Massachusetts, with slightly cooler conditions—around 73 to 80°F—near the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands. A warm air mass and clear skies are boosting temperatures, while smoke from ongoing Canadian wildfires could dim the sun at times, reducing air clarity.

Springfield and Greenfield are expected to see highs near 89°F, while Fitchburg and Lawrence top out at 88°F. Boston is projected to hit 88°F by mid-afternoon. South-facing coastal towns like Hyannis and Nantucket will stay cooler, in the low to mid-70s. Drivers and outdoor workers should take precautions due to poor air quality in hazier areas.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and monitor air quality updates. Sensitive groups, including children and seniors, should limit time outside if haze thickens.

Temperatures remain high through midweek, with cooler relief possible by Thursday.
