Buffalo, NY – A passing storm is bringing snow and falling temperatures to Buffalo and surrounding areas tonight. Forecasters predict significant lake-effect snow, primarily accumulating across higher elevations inland from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, widespread rain and snow will transition to lake-effect snow by evening. Snowfall is expected to intensify overnight, with elevations above 1,500 feet seeing the heaviest accumulation. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s, while gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph create blustery conditions.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously as visibility could drop in heavier snow bands. Low-lying areas will likely see less accumulation, with precipitation tapering off to scattered snow showers by morning.

Forecasters are also monitoring a potential winter storm for the weekend, which could bring hazardous travel conditions across the region. Residents should stay updated on the latest forecasts as the storm’s path becomes clearer.
