Salt Lake City, UT – Snowfall continues across northern and central Utah, with winter weather advisories in place until Saturday evening. Travelers and residents face hazardous conditions as up to 10 inches of snow and gusty winds sweep through the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snowfall will persist through the day, with Wasatch Mountains areas north and south of I-80 seeing 2 to 6 inches. The Central Mountains, including Joes Valley and Fish Lake, could accumulate up to 10 inches by 5 PM Saturday. Winds gusting up to 45 mph, and even 60 mph along ridgelines, will further reduce visibility, especially near Logan Summit and other high-elevation routes.

The NWS urges drivers to exercise extreme caution, as blowing snow may obscure roadways, creating winter driving conditions. Those traveling along I-80 or in the Western Uinta Mountains should plan for delays. Updated road conditions can be found through the Utah Department of Transportation’s website.

Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for potential power disruptions in higher elevations. Snowfall is expected to taper off after 8 PM in most regions. However, ridgeline winds and drifting snow may prolong cleanup efforts into Sunday.
