East Glacier Park, MT – A blizzard warning has been issued for Montana’s East Glacier Park region, with severe winter conditions expected through Tuesday morning. Heavy snowfall and intense winds will create dangerous travel conditions, particularly along the Continental Divide.
According to the National Weather Service, blizzard conditions will begin at 1 p.m. Monday and last until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Forecasts predict 2 to 5 inches of snow at elevations below 5,000 feet, with totals reaching up to 14 inches at higher elevations. Winds are expected to gust as high as 80 mph, significantly reducing visibility. The advisory warns of potential tree and power line damage due to high winds.
Following the blizzard, a Winter Weather Advisory will take effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, bringing an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow and winds gusting up to 60 mph.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and ensure backcountry readiness for extreme conditions. Travelers can monitor road conditions through the Montana Department of Transportation’s 511 service or website for updates.
