Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana is preparing for its coldest weather of the season as arctic air settles across the region this weekend. Highs will struggle to reach the upper 20s, while wind chills could plummet to single digits at times.
According to the National Weather Service, the frigid conditions will begin late Friday and persist through Sunday. Residents along major roadways like I-465 and I-65 should be prepared for icy winds and potential snow flurries. Overnight lows will dip into the teens, and Saturday night may bring a slight chance of snow after 1 p.m.
Black Friday shoppers are advised to dress in layers and cover exposed skin to avoid frostbite. Pets should also be kept indoors, and travelers are encouraged to pack emergency kits if driving long distances. Saturday’s high will hover around 28°F, with gusts up to 20 mph making it feel much colder.
Sunday will bring a brief reprieve with sunny skies but continued cold temperatures, reaching a high of only 27°F. Winds will remain steady from the northwest, adding to the brisk conditions.
Looking ahead, Monday’s forecast shows another cold start with a high near 29°F and partly sunny skies. Warmer air may arrive by midweek, with highs climbing to the low 30s and slight chances of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Residents should stay updated on local forecasts and take precautions during this unseasonably cold stretch. For more updates, visit the National Weather Service or tune in to local news stations.
