Grand Junction, CO – Thanksgiving travelers and holiday shoppers in western Colorado are facing chilly but calm weather through the weekend. Highs in the Grand Junction area will climb to 38°F on Thanksgiving Day, with temperatures dipping to 18°F overnight.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), patchy fog could develop early Thursday morning but will clear by 9 a.m., leaving sunny skies across the region. Black Friday morning will be especially cold, with lows near 17°F before temperatures warm to a high of 39°F. Southeast winds around 5 mph will make for calm conditions, but shoppers should bundle up before heading out.
The weekend outlook shows continued sunny skies but little relief from the cold. Saturday’s high will reach 41°F, followed by an overnight low of 20°F. Sunday will bring slightly warmer conditions, with a high of 44°F and low of 22°F. Those traveling along I-70 or U.S. Route 50 should prepare for freezing temperatures during the early morning and late evening hours.
Travelers should ensure their vehicles are winter-ready, as freezing temperatures can affect batteries and tire pressure. Additionally, with holiday traffic expected to increase, drivers should allow extra time for travel and monitor local road conditions.
Looking into next week, Monday offers slightly warmer highs near 45°F. While no snow is in the forecast, residents should remain alert to frost in the mornings.
