Binghamton, NY — Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to move into Central and Southern New York Saturday afternoon, following a stretch of mild, spring-like weather.

According to the National Weather Service Binghamton, rain chances rise sharply beginning Saturday morning, peaking between noon and 6 p.m. with up to an 80% probability in areas such as Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton. Temperatures will climb steadily through the weekend, with highs reaching the upper 60s and low 70s by Saturday afternoon.

While Friday will remain mostly dry and mild, residents across Upstate New York, including Elmira, Oneonta, and Cortland, should prepare for rain gear and potential thunderstorm activity Saturday. This pattern marks one of the warmest stretches of the season so far, but the sudden increase in moisture could trigger temporary flooding in low-lying areas and affect outdoor weekend plans.

Drivers are urged to watch for slick roads and changing visibility. Outdoor event organizers may want to prepare backup plans. With conditions improving by Sunday morning, most areas will return to drier, cooler weather by Sunday evening.

Stay weather-aware by monitoring local forecasts and alerts throughout the weekend.
