Drivers and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution this morning as the National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of potential icy conditions in the Baltimore-Washington region.

According to the statement, issued early Thursday, patches of ice may form on roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces due to a combination of cold temperatures and lingering low-level moisture. These icy spots may appear wet and be difficult to detect, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.

Residents are advised to reduce driving speeds, leave extra space between vehicles, and tread carefully on outdoor surfaces.
