Austin, Texas – Dangerous heat is expected to grip much of Central and South Texas through the weekend, with high temperatures pushing toward 100°F in cities like Austin, San Antonio, and Eagle Pass.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, heat index values are forecast to climb into the 105–110°F range from Friday through Monday. Peak heat is expected Sunday, with San Antonio, Uvalde, and Del Rio all facing potential heat advisories. Meteorologists currently place medium confidence (40–60%) in widespread heat reaching advisory criteria.

New Braunfels, La Grange, and Kerrville could also see highs in the upper 90s to 100°F by Saturday, with humidity pushing “feels like” temperatures well above safe thresholds. Residents are urged to avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, drink water regularly, and check on the elderly or vulnerable.

In addition to the heat, an early morning storm system could redevelop Wednesday afternoon with gusty winds and localized heavy rainfall along and east of the I-35 corridor—including Austin, Georgetown, and New Braunfels. While severe storms are not expected to be widespread, isolated strong cells are possible.

The heat is expected to ease slightly by next Tuesday. Until then, stay weather-aware and monitor for possible advisories.
