Atlanta, Georgia – Storms are clearing just in time for the weekend across Georgia, and a stretch of summer-like weather is set to take hold.
According to the National Weather Service, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for Atlanta and surrounding areas, including along major routes like I-75 and I-20. After Friday’s storm threat, skies will clear Saturday with sunshine and gusts up to 25 mph expected by afternoon.
Saturday marks a shift. Highs reach the low 80s under clear skies across Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties. Winds from the northwest could still gust up to 25 mph, but no rain is expected after Friday night.
By Sunday, June 1, Atlanta enters a classic early summer setup: mostly sunny skies, highs in the low to mid-80s, and no rain in sight. Monday and Tuesday warm further, with forecast highs reaching 86°F by June 3 and 89°F by Wednesday, June 5. Expect mostly clear nights in the mid-60s throughout the week.
Residents should prepare for dry, warm conditions, with increased hydration and heat safety measures during outdoor activity. While no major alerts are posted for next week, light smoke from Canadian wildfires could reduce air quality at times, particularly in the evenings.
Looking ahead: Temperatures stay in the upper 80s through midweek, with Wednesday marking the hottest day of the stretch. No rain is expected through at least Wednesday night.
