Little Rock, AR – A significant winter storm is gripping Arkansas today, with heavy snow and freezing rain creating treacherous road conditions. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m., with accumulations of 3 to 6 inches of snow and additional sleet expected across central and northern Arkansas.
According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain and sleet will likely create icy conditions, particularly on I-30 and other major roadways. Motorists are urged to delay travel, as bridges and overpasses may become especially hazardous. If travel is unavoidable, drivers should carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and flashlights.
The storm will taper off by Friday night, leaving mostly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to a low of 18 degrees. Saturday offers some relief, with partly sunny skies and a high near 36. Sunday will continue the trend with sunny weather and highs reaching 41 degrees.
Next week starts mild, with highs in the low 40s on Monday and Tuesday. However, the impact of today’s storm will likely linger as road crews work to clear icy highways. Residents are advised to monitor local updates and exercise caution when venturing outdoors this weekend.
