Arkansas residents can enjoy a sunny, mild weekend before a cold front brings rain and cooler temperatures ahead of Thanksgiving. Sunday will reach near 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies, perfect for outdoor plans. However, the warming trend will end Monday as rain chances increase and colder air pushes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service, intermittent rain chances are expected through the week as surface low-pressure systems pass through Arkansas. By Tuesday, highs will drop into the mid-50s, and rain chances will grow significantly by Thanksgiving. Travelers along I-40 and I-30 should plan for potential delays due to wet conditions and lower visibility.

Monday will start with partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of showers in the afternoon. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest as the front approaches, bringing gusts up to 20 mph. Evening temperatures will drop sharply, with lows around 40 degrees.

Thanksgiving Day may see up to a 50% chance of rain, with highs near 55 degrees, making it a good idea to keep outdoor celebrations covered or indoors. By Friday, cooler conditions will settle over the region, but the skies will begin to clear, allowing for sunshine to return into the weekend.

For the week ahead:

• Sunday: High 70, mostly sunny.

• Monday: High 73, partly cloudy, slight afternoon rain chance.

• Tuesday: High 55, cooler, with partly cloudy skies.

• Wednesday: High 60, slight rain chance.

• Thanksgiving Day: High 55, 40-50% rain chance, mostly cloudy.
