Little Rock, Ark. – A round of scattered thunderstorms could dampen Friday afternoon plans across central Arkansas, with storms expected mainly after 4 p.m. and a high near 86°F in Little Rock.

According to the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, there’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon into early evening. Rain is expected to taper off by 7 p.m., giving way to partly cloudy skies and overnight lows around 68°F. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday through Monday looks dry and increasingly hot. Little Rock will see mostly sunny skies Saturday with highs around 87°F. Sunday brings full sun and slightly warmer temperatures near 88°F. By Monday, highs could reach 90°F with just a slight 20% chance of a pop-up thunderstorm after 1 p.m.

Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take frequent breaks from the heat. Those in Pulaski, Saline, and Faulkner counties should remain weather-aware today as isolated storms could produce brief heavy downpours or lightning.

Storm chances return slightly Tuesday, but the real concern may be the intensifying August heat—temperatures are expected to climb toward 95°F by Thursday.
