Little Rock, Arkansas – Scattered thunderstorms and a growing chance of showers could disrupt travel across central Arkansas Thursday afternoon, especially near I-30 and I-430 in Pulaski County. Daytime highs will climb near 89°F, with storm chances peaking after 1 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, there’s a 40% chance of thunderstorms developing Thursday afternoon, with the highest activity expected between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Winds will remain light but variable, with increasing moisture making conditions feel more humid. Calm wind in the morning will shift to southwest at 5 mph.

Areas like North Little Rock, Maumelle, and Sherwood may see brief downpours or lightning, which could delay commutes or outdoor plans. Drivers are urged to check conditions before hitting the road, especially during peak traffic hours. Residents should also secure outdoor furniture and prepare for potential brief power flickers.

By Friday, scattered showers continue with another 30% chance of rain after 1 p.m. Thunderstorms could again impact the afternoon and early evening commute, with similar heat holding in the upper 80s.

Storm chances persist into the weekend, with 50% coverage Saturday night and isolated showers Sunday into Monday. Rainfall totals remain light, but localized disruptions are possible.

Stay tuned to NWS updates as additional alerts may be issued Thursday or Friday.
