Little Rock, Ark. – Damaging winds and large hail are expected to sweep across Arkansas Friday and Saturday as multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms move through the region, prompting heightened alerts for much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, storms will begin early Friday, with the highest threat for strong winds—potentially exceeding 80 mph—and hail up to softball size through Saturday night. A tornado or two also remains possible, particularly on Saturday afternoon into the overnight hours. The greatest risks are focused across central and southern Arkansas, including Pulaski, Saline, Garland, and Jefferson counties.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the state under a Level 2 (Slight) to Level 3 (Enhanced) risk, signaling the potential for widespread wind damage and scattered hail reports. Travel disruptions, power outages, and localized flooding could occur during heavier downpours.

Residents should secure outdoor items, charge devices, and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts—especially overnight. The National Weather Service advises limiting travel during high-impact times and monitoring for updates.

Severe weather threats are expected to ease by early Sunday morning, but additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
