Little Rock, AR – A wide swath of Arkansas is under a Flood Watch from Friday evening through Easter Sunday, with up to 4 inches of rain expected to fall across central, north-central, and western parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the heaviest rainfall will likely occur in the Ozark and Ouachita Mountain regions, where a stalled frontal boundary could bring repeated rounds of storms. Rainfall totals could exceed 4 inches in localized areas, particularly if the front shifts further southeast.

Counties under the Flood Watch include Boone, Baxter, Fulton, Marion, Stone, Izard, Newton, Johnson, Pope, Searcy, and Van Buren, among others. Cities such as Harrison, Mountain Home, Russellville, and Mena are in the impacted zone.

Officials warn that excessive runoff may lead to flooding in creeks, rivers, and low-lying areas. Urban locations with poor drainage could see flash flooding, while debris may clog storm drains and ditches.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential travel delays. Avoid flooded roadways and have a plan in case evacuation becomes necessary.

The watch is set to expire by 7 p.m. Sunday, but additional warnings may be issued depending on rainfall intensity.
