Fayetteville, AR – Arkansas is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. CST tonight as severe weather conditions increase across the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that residents should prepare for potential tornadoes, strong winds, and hail.
The storm system may produce hail up to the size of ping-pong balls and wind gusts reaching 70 mph, according to the NWS. Areas under watch include Fayetteville, Fort Smith, and Russellville, impacting schools, hospitals, and nearly 1.9 million people in the region.
This tornado watch comes as part of a multi-state alert system impacting neighboring Missouri and Kansas as well. Updates will continue until the watch expires at 9 p.m. CST.
