Little Rock, Ark. – Brutal heat and a shot of Sunday storms could create trouble for travelers and outdoor plans across central Arkansas. Thunderstorms may begin to fire up after 1 p.m., with high heat and humidity pushing the index past 102°F in Little Rock and surrounding Pulaski County.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon, increasing again overnight. Winds will remain light out of the south near 5 mph, but stagnant air and soaring humidity could make outdoor activity dangerous by midday. A partly cloudy Sunday night will hold temps near 75°F.
Expect the pattern to hold into Monday, with heat returning near 95°F and another 50% chance of afternoon storms. T-storms remain possible into Monday night, bringing relief from the heat but also the risk of lightning and isolated flooding.
By Tuesday, moisture lingers, with a 40% chance of storms and highs still near 95°F, according to NWS data. That trend continues midweek with continued storm risks Tuesday through Thursday.
Arkansans should limit outdoor activity during peak heat, drink plenty of water, and avoid travel during potential downpours, especially along I-30 and I-40 corridors where ponding is likely.
