Little Rock, AR – A strong cold front is expected to bring severe thunderstorms to Arkansas on Saturday, with the highest risk in the southeastern part of the state. Strong winds, large hail, and even tornadoes are possible as the storm system moves through in the afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, southeast Arkansas faces the greatest threat, with a 30% to 44% chance of severe weather in areas like El Dorado and Pine Bluff. These storms could produce wind gusts exceeding 75 mph, hail larger than two inches in diameter, and tornadoes with EF2 strength or higher.
Much of central and southern Arkansas is under a slight to enhanced risk for severe storms, with cities including Little Rock, Texarkana, and Jonesboro expected to see strong winds and heavy rainfall. The storms will move eastward through the evening, potentially impacting travel and outdoor events.
Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts, have a safety plan in place, and secure outdoor items ahead of the storm. The NWS recommends having multiple ways to receive warnings, as conditions could change rapidly.
