Little Rock, Arkansas – Thunderstorms could sweep across central Arkansas by Thursday morning, bringing heavy rain and the potential for localized flooding during peak commute hours. Little Rock and surrounding cities may see downpours beginning late Wednesday and continuing into Friday, with the most intense activity likely Thursday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms begins after midnight Wednesday, increasing through the day Thursday. Showers are expected to arrive first in western portions of Pulaski County before spreading east across the metro. Rainfall totals could exceed an inch in isolated areas.
Communities including North Little Rock, Conway, and Benton should prepare for slick roads and possible flash flooding in low-lying spots. Thunderstorms may also bring gusty winds and frequent lightning. On Friday, rain chances climb to 80% with continued storm activity expected.
Residents are urged to check weather alerts, avoid flooded roadways, and secure outdoor items ahead of the system. This will be the region’s first significant multi-day rain event since early April.
Storm chances taper off late Friday night, but scattered showers could linger into Saturday. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
