Little Rock, Ark. – Golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts nearing 70 mph could slam eastern and southeastern Arkansas Friday afternoon, putting communities from Little Rock to El Dorado on alert for severe weather impacts.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, storms are expected to intensify through the afternoon and evening, with central, eastern, and southeastern regions most at risk. The primary hazards include damaging straight-line winds, hail up to 1.75 inches in diameter, and a low but present tornado threat, especially in areas along and east of I-30 and south of I-40.

Cities including Pine Bluff, West Memphis, and Jonesboro are under an enhanced risk level, with infrastructure, power lines, and trees vulnerable to wind damage. Motorists on I-40 and I-530 should watch for rapidly changing road conditions, especially during evening commutes.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, charge mobile devices, and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for potential warnings. Schools and businesses in high-risk zones should review severe weather protocols.

This is the second wave of storms expected today, with earlier scattered showers giving way to a more organized, dangerous system. Warnings remain in effect through Friday evening, and additional updates may follow.
