Little Rock, AR – Snowfall from the January 9–10 winter storm left central Arkansas blanketed in up to 12 inches of snow, with areas such as Danville and Hot Springs reporting the highest totals. As residents recover, freezing fog and chilly temperatures will persist through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, icy conditions remain a concern on major routes, including US-70 and US-270, with some areas seeing snow still packed on secondary roads. Travelers are urged to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours when visibility may drop below a quarter mile.
Sunday’s forecast shows partly sunny skies with a high near 41 degrees, offering a brief reprieve from freezing conditions. However, Sunday night brings increasing cloud cover and lows around 25. Monday will be sunny, with highs reaching 40, but temperatures will dip to the low 20s overnight, keeping roads slick in shaded areas.
Looking ahead to midweek, a warming trend offers some relief, with highs reaching 45 by Thursday. Even so, calm winds and clear skies overnight will keep the region vulnerable to frost and icy patches.
Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks and driveways promptly and monitor weather updates for changing conditions. Those commuting early in the week should allow extra travel time and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles.
