Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas is bracing for severe weather on Tuesday afternoon and evening, with damaging wind gusts and large hail expected to affect much of the state. Strong thunderstorms will develop by mid-afternoon, leading to dangerous conditions for drivers and residents across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the most significant threats include wind gusts reaching 80 mph or higher and hail as large as softball size. Areas in central and northern Arkansas, including Little Rock, Conway, and Russellville, could be at risk for these hazards starting around 2 p.m. and lasting into the evening.
In addition to wind and hail, the NWS has indicated that a few tornadoes could form as a result of supercells developing in the unstable atmosphere. The tornado risk is considered low but not negligible, particularly in areas such as Batesville, Hot Springs, and Pine Bluff.
Residents should prepare by securing outdoor items, staying indoors during the storms, and having an emergency kit ready. High winds could also cause power outages, so charging devices in advance is recommended.
This severe weather threat will persist into Tuesday evening, and additional alerts may be issued as conditions develop. Stay tuned for updates and take action as necessary.
