Bakersfield, MO – A powerful EF-3 tornado tore through Bakersfield, Missouri, on the evening of March 14, leaving a path of destruction and claiming three lives. The twister, which originated near Gamaliel, Arkansas, crossed into Missouri and intensified, producing peak winds of 140 mph.

According to the National Weather Service Springfield, the tornado touched down around 8:30 p.m. CDT and remained on the ground for approximately 19 minutes, traveling 12.4 miles before lifting. With a maximum width of 600 yards, the storm damaged multiple homes and downed numerous trees, leaving widespread devastation.

The tornado resulted in three fatalities and one reported injury in Bakersfield. Several houses suffered severe damage, with some completely destroyed. Emergency crews responded swiftly to assess the damage and assist those affected. Authorities continue to survey the area for further impacts.

Missouri residents are urged to remain vigilant during severe weather events and have emergency plans in place. The National Weather Service advises staying informed through local alerts and seeking shelter in a sturdy structure during tornado warnings.
