Little Rock, AR – A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of central, north-central, and western Arkansas tonight as temperatures are expected to dip near 30 degrees by early Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the warning will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. CST Sunday, Nov. 2, affecting counties including Marion, Baxter, Fulton, Sharp, Stone, Izard, Independence, Cleburne, Perry, Garland, Boone, Newton, Searcy, Van Buren, Logan, Scott, Yell, Polk, and Montgomery.
Forecasters say sub-freezing temperatures could cause frost and freeze conditions capable of killing crops, sensitive plants, and damaging unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions to prevent freeze damage.
“Wrap or drain outdoor water pipes, cover above-ground sprinkler systems, and bring tender plants indoors,” the NWS advised in its Saturday evening update.
The cold front marks one of the first widespread freezes of the season across the state, signaling an early shift toward winter-like temperatures. Sunday’s highs are expected to rebound into the upper 40s and low 50s, with another potential cold night forecast early next week.
Residents across the Ozarks, River Valley, and central Arkansas should remain alert for additional frost advisories as November temperatures continue to fluctuate.
